Symbolically on Labor Day 1.5.2024 our first AI chatbot in the Czech Republic was launched, also as the first artificial intelligence in the service of citizens in the Czech Republic! Since then, it has handled more than 8 thousand inquiries and enjoys high popularity. Wondering how this innovation found its way to its customers and users?

On 1 May 2024, symbolically on Labour Day, the municipality of Mokrá-Horákov in cooperation with the start-up Citymind launched the first AI chatbot in public administration in the Czech Republic. This digital assistant has since handled more than 8,000 enquiries and has become a popular tool for citizens looking for fast and accurate information.

According to Mayor Ing. Matyáš Charvát, this innovation shows that public administration does not have to be ossified and backward thanks to artificial intelligence. The project is a great example of how modern technologies can facilitate communication between the authorities and citizens and at the same time increase the efficiency of the services provided.

Project objectives

To facilitate citizens' access to information about municipal services.
Reducing the burden on officials of answering routine queries.
Improve the 24/7 digital availability of the office.
Increase the efficiency of public administration through AI.

How does our AI chatbot work?
The chatbot was deployed as a digital assistant on the website of the Mokrá-Horákov municipality. Thanks to artificial intelligence, it can:

✅ Answer routine questions from citizens regarding office hours, contacts and the municipality's agenda.
✅ Assist with document and form retrieval.
✅ Provide up-to-date information on what's happening in the community, planned events and changes in traffic.
✅ Automatically respond to citizen suggestions and forward them to the appropriate officials.

Results and impact

🔹 More than 8,000 enquiries handled since launch.
🔹 Positive feedback from citizens who appreciate the speed and accessibility of responses, specifically 76% of citizens were satisfied with the responses in the last 3 months.
🔹 The typical length of a conversation with an AI agent is only 2 messages, to answer a query.
🔹 Saving time for officials who can focus on more complex tasks instead of answering repetitive questions.
🔹 Inspiration for other municipalities considering the use of AI in communication with citizens.

The deployment of an AI chatbot in Mokré-Horák shows that even smaller municipalities can be digitally innovative and bring their services closer to citizens in a modern way. This project proves that artificial intelligence is an effective tool for public administration and opens the way to further possibilities of using AI in cities and municipalities across the Czech Republic.
